About me: I'm a soon-to-be-declared computer science major planning to pursue the graphics track. However, I'm fairly new to the CS department and at one point was planning to be a Studio Art/Psychology double major. I'm definitely interested in both the programming and aesthetic aspects of this project.

interests: art, music (singing/songwriting/guitar), cooking, and (as of this year!) programming!

ideas for applications that you'd want to build in the world:

idea 1. building off the art gallery idea already introduced, customizable galleries based on user input of favorite art movements, styles, artists, along w/ guided audio tours of said galleries, w/ relevant information about works.

idea 2. some way to synch a Meru user's account w/ his/her social networking sites; for example, virtual world reads from Facebook profile information to learn more about user interests, etc., and suggests other Meru applications that might fit with these interests. Or scans celebrities a user is following on his/her Twitter account and provides news about them (presented in some creative way -- visually, on billboards by city streets, or magazine covers, etc.).

idea 3. some sort of homespace offering user substantial control over appearance -- colors, furniture, posters/art(?), ambient music (and all those addictive minutia).

idea 4. creative ways to implement user-user interaction (instant messaging or maybe even a sort of Skyping system between users' avatars for more immediate communication, as opposed to texting/e-mails to convey things with a lesser sense of urgency/immediacy).

operating system you would be using to interact with the world: Windows 7, Home Premium.

any other notes: No personal experience with 3D modelers, but boyfriend took CS 248 winter quarter; I plan to pester him to teach me some of what he learned about rendering and animation this quarter.
