Welcome to the Sirikata Wiki

What is Sirikata?

  • Sirikata is an BSD licensed open source platform for virtual worlds. We aim to provide a set of libraries and protocols which can be used to deploy a virtual world, as well as fully featured sample implementations of services for hosting and deploying these worlds.
  • We are aiming for an alpha release in Q2 2009 and this video teaser should give you some sense of what to expect.

Community

Join our community mailing list or read our open archives. Some community members, especially developers, hang out on IRC.

Developers

Find out how to get and build the code. Our code is hosted on Github. If you are a developer and brave you can check out our Dev Preview protoype

If you want to contribute code then please join our dev list or read our open archives. You can catch us on IRC at #sirikata on irc.freenode.net

This 25 min. video gives a high level overview over the Sirikata system architecture. Go to our Vimeo Channel for more videos.

We are starting a discussion on how to implement distributed physics on our space servers.

If you are looking for some inpiration on how to become involved you can check out our coding projects. We have just concluded a discussion on the type system used in messages and network wire formats.

This is the resulting Protocol sirikata will use as it stands. We encourage discussion about these builtin commands.

Artists

Our artists communicate on our art list. Check out the open archives.

Documentation on how to import art into Sirikata is pending. For now check out the video Sirikata from a content creator's point of view

Application Developers

Sirikata is still in its early stages. While we are not able to target specific applications yet, we would like to open a dialog with potential users (that is, those who would develop a world on the Sirikata platform). Please join the list to join the conversation on our our community mailing list.

Events

Some events have been organized focusing on the development and use of Sirikata.
